About Susan Tierney

Susan TierneySusan started on the Ad Agency side at McCann Erickson in Chicago evaluating and recommending media plans in the early 80’s for Coca-Cola. After moving to Dallas in 1983, she redirected her talents to the sales side. She worked for five years in National Accounts for Harte Hanks Direct Marketing - selling direct mail / marketing initiatives to small businesses. Wanting to expand her contacts, she moved to a local magazine rep firm, Southwest Media, where she sold advertising space on a variety of local and national publications. She then started her own rep firm, Tierney & Company which was renamed in 2009 to Tierney Media Sales.

Susan spent 15 years representing magazine publications in advertising and on-line sales. A few of the national media companies Susan represented were Conde Nast, Time Inc, Hearst, Gruner & Jahr, Bonnier, Primedia and News Corp. As a sales and marketing professional for these media companies, Susan exceeded sales goals and increased market share through effective relationship building. Skilled in prospecting, cold calling, qualifying leads, identifying key decision makers, analyzing need and high level presentations, Susan continues to remain active in the ad sales business as Sales Manager.

In 2002 she partnered with the number one teen magazine, Seventeen Magazine, to open a salon & spa concept targeted to teens. As a founding partner, Susan developed and oversaw all of the advertising, marketing, events, and on-line initiatives for the brand. Her efforts garnered several awards, including the coveted “Salon of the Year” award in 2005 and a Finalist in the Global Salon Business Awards in 2006.
